Languages
Here in Modern Foreign Languages at Highworth Warneford School we believe that excellent communication skills are vital in the modern world.
Our aim is to promote the enjoyment of learning languages for all students through high quality teaching and by offering a range of opportunities for students to experience contact with other countries.
We have a team of skilled and dedicated language teachers who are all expert in making lessons active, varied and exciting. Our students are given all the support and challenge they need to develop their language skills as they embark upon what we hope will be a lifelong language learning journey.
We believe that learning a language also offers an excellent insight into other cultures and societies.
French and German
On arrival at Warneford all pupils will learn French for three years. At the start of Year 8, German is introduced as a second language for linguists who are more able.
At KS4, we offer AQA GCSE courses in French and German.

Enrichment Activities
Educational visits play an important role in broadening our students’ horizons. We currently run a popular residential trip to France in Year 7. In Year 10 there is a German trip to Berlin. We take part in the annual Language competition run by GCHQ. A weekly Languages Culture Club in run every Thursday lunchtime, where students have a chance to try out their languages; they can access extra support and can try interactive language learning (Duolingo is very popular!).
