Library

Students can make use of this space before and after school as well as at breaktime and lunchtime to work on coursework, homework, read books and play card games or chess.

The Library contains a variety of fiction and non-fiction books all geared towards reflecting both the curricular and non-curricular needs of the school community. We have collections of LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, dyslexia friendly, headspace, quick reads, HiLo, and graphic novels. If you would like to see what the Library has to offer students, please check out our Library catalogue.

If a student is unsure of what to read next, a great start would be to try a book from our Top 30 Reads, available to browse in the Library and in the catalogue.

Other facilities include a stationery shop and 8 computers for students to use with access to a printer. There is also an opportunity for students to become Library Monitors during their time in school. This role involves students serving other students at the desk, shelving books and tidying.

Library Lessons using Accelerated Reader:

KS3 students are invited to come to the Library once a fortnight to choose books and read as part of their English lessons. Here they can quiz on their Accelerated Reader books to earn merits and book prizes each term. If a student reaches word millionaire during KS3, they will be rewarded with a certificate, a book and a reward trip.
