Duke of Edinburgh Award

D of E – Developing young people’s skills for life and work

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an internationally recognised scheme which involves young people participating in activities such as skills, physical activities, volunteering, and an expedition.  Completion of the Award will help to give the skills, confidence and positive outlook that everyone is looking for, from employers to colleges and universities.

The award recognises commitment, endeavour, and a capacity for teamwork, whether that be in newly discovered activities or things participants already do. At Highworth Warneford School, students from year 9 onwards have the opportunity to complete the Bronze award, encompassing a two-day expedition in Savernake Forest in mid-April. Students who complete their Bronze award in year 9 or 10 can then go on to the Silver award level.

In completing the award, students will make a difference to other people’s lives and their community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends, and have memories to last a lifetime.
