Musical performance outside of music lessons is a real strength of our school. Pupils are encouraged to ‘have a go’ and showcase their ability to their friends, family and the wider world! From small informal Listen & Play concerts to Big Band tours, Warneford has a very strong tradition of the performance and enjoyment of music…whatever your musical talent!
Swindon Young Musician of the Year 2017
Congratulations to our 4 students who performed in the 21st Swindon Young Musician of the Year Competition 2017, organised by the Rotary Club of Swindon North and held at the Blunsdon House Hotel. This year there were 27 competitors from 8 different schools and the standard was extremely high. Helen Pysanczyn was adjudicating and The Mayor of Swindon and Councillor Eric Shaw presented certificates together with Holmes Music Shop vouchers to those placed first, second and third in each category. Congratulations to Ella Reindl who came second in the junior section, and to Nayan Mistry and Caitlin Eastham who were highly commended in the senior section – an excellent achievement, well done!
Christmas Cracker Concerts 2016
We hope all those that attended our Christmas concerts, enjoyed a wonderful evening of festive musical entertainment. We had a wide variety of performances including our Ukulele & Guitar Groups, Big Band, Concert Band, Woodwind Whirlwind, String Group, Junior & Senior Choirs alongside a selection of smaller groups and solos. A special thank you to all the students who performed, all the staff helpers and Keith Davidson for taking photos.
School Musical – Little Shop of Horrors 2016
From 7-9 July 2016, Warneford was transported to a place where a giant plant was planning to take over the world, in our school musical production of this rocky, glamorous, gory musical `Little Shop of Horrors’. Little Shop of Horrors is about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The music is in the style of early 1960s rock and roll/motown and includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, “Skid Row (Downtown)”, “Somewhere That’s Green”, and “Suddenly, Seymour”. Produced by Mr Byrne (Head of Music), Mrs Lakey (Head of PE) and Mrs McLennan (Head of Drama).
Warneford Big Band
On Saturday 7 June 2014, the Warneford Big Band entertained the crowds enjoying the British sunshine at Liddington Summer Fete. They played a wide selection of popular music including Goody Goody featuring Jack on vocals, La Bamba and Flip, Flop, Fly.
